Ocean Activities
Activity name:
Paper Plate Fish
Materials needed:
White non-coated paper plates (any size)
Crayons, markers, colored pencils, and/or paint
Scissors
Glue
Wiggle eyes (optional)
Preparation:
Draw a triangle shape on the edge of a paper
plate.
Carrying out the
activity:
Have the children cut out the triangle shape
(assist where necessary). Have the children glue the triangle on the other
side of the plate opposite the cutout. The cutout section represents the
mouth and the attached triangle shape represents the tail. When glue has
dried, have the children draw on an eye (or glue on a wiggly eye). Have
the children paint or color their fish.

Sand Art - Activity 1
Materials needed:
Construction paper
White glue
White or colored sand
Preparation:
None
Carrying out the
activity:
Squeeze glue onto construction paper making
any pattern desired. Sprinkle white or colored sand onto the glue. Allow
to dry.

Materials needed:
Construction paper
White glue
White or colored sand
Cookie cutters
Preparation:
None
Carrying out the
activity:
Dip cookie cutters into glue and press cookie
cutter onto construction paper. Sprinkle with white or colored sand. Allow
to dry.

Throw Back the Fish Game
Materials needed:
Large cardboard box
Blue markers or paint
Scissors
Bean bags
Preparation:
Cut a large hole in the side of a big box (be
sure the box opening is on the bottom. Draw or paint waves on the entire
box to represent the water.
Carrying out the
activity:
Give the children bean bags, and tell them to
pretend they are fish. Tell the children that all the fish are too small
to keep so they must throw them back into the water. Have the children
toss the bean bags into the hole in the box. To play again, lift up the
box and pick-up the fish.
