Chubbie Cubbie's Bird Activities
Activity name:
Baby Birds
Materials needed:
Yarn
Scissors
Paper cup
Preparation:
Cut a piece of yarn long enough to encircle
the children. Place the yarn on the grass or floor in a large
circle.
Carrying out the activity:
Have the children sit in the circle.
Tell them they are baby birds. Now have them roll up into balls.
Have them pretend they are now inside their eggs. Have the children “hatch” out of
their eggs. Now they are hungry birds. Ask them if they can
peep like a baby bird. Now, pick one child to fly away for food.
Tell them they can leave the nest. The child flies away in search of
food. They can bring back anything they wish to pretend is food.
Tell the child to share with everyone what kind of food they found and then
place it in the cup. Continue until all baby birds have found food.
